# 1
Black Desert Mobile is an undeniably stunning MMORPG with one of the best character customization systems, fluid combat, and an expansive open world. It has all the makings of a game that could stand the test of time. However, beneath its beautiful surface lies a frustrating and often demoralizing experience, especially for players who don’t want to spend ridiculous amounts of money just to progress.
The Pain of RNG: Low Drop Rates and Brutal Enchantments
One of the biggest complaints from the player base is the abysmally low drop rates. Whether it's attempting to acquire high-tier gear, accessories, or enhancement materials, the process feels like an endless, thankless grind. Many players spend hours farming, only to get nothing of value, while whales (big spenders) can simply bypass the struggle with premium purchases.
Enchanting gear is another nightmare. The success rates for high-tier enhancements feel impossibly low, turning what should be a rewarding progression system into a demoralizing money sink. Failing multiple times in a row can erase weeks (or even months) of effort, pushing many players either into quitting or spending real money to recover from the loss. The enchantment system should feel like a challenge, not a punishment.
Pay-to-Win Overload
While all free-to-play games need monetization, Black Desert Mobile takes it to an extreme. The gap between free-to-play players and whales is staggering, making PvP and high-end content feel more like a financial contest than a test of skill. The game constantly bombards players with cash shop offers, reminding them that spending is the fastest (and often the only) way to truly progress.
The Developers Need to Value Players, Not Just Their Wallets
Despite the complaints from players, Pearl Abyss seems more focused on squeezing as much money as possible rather than improving the game’s balance. Instead of fixing the glaring issues, they introduce more pay-to-win mechanics and overpriced "events" that cater only to those willing to spend.
This is what makes Black Desert Mobile so frustrating. The potential for an amazing MMORPG is there—it’s visually breathtaking, has a deep combat system, and offers engaging content. But all of that is overshadowed by the developers’ greed. If Pearl Abyss listened to their community and made meaningful changes—like fairer drop rates, improved enchantment success, and better rewards for free-to-play players—this game could easily be one of the best mobile MMORPGs of all time.
Until then, Black Desert Mobile remains a game of "what could have been"—a masterpiece tarnished by corporate greed.
