I was thinking of picking this back up..I installed it when it first came out last year and didn't really like the classes to choose from, It felt very basic. But now there are many classes and idk which one id like to focus on. Certainly not a meta cheese class, that is not my style. I wanna earn the win with skill and technique.

Before knowing what to avoid, you must confirm few other things.
1. Are you realy skilled as you think? Are you familliar with action combat? You could be skilled in old tab based, non action combat games, but this is complite different story.
2.What is your play style? The class that most suit you, could be one of the meta classes you try to avoid.
3. Also, how much cheesi is to cheesi for you to play it.
Now, because you wanted list of meta classes, a will give you the one, in no particular order.
1. Arcmage
2. Hashashin
3. Raven
4. Berserker
5. Phantasma
6. Void Knight (but you need more skill with her vs good players of above classes)
Paladin is also borderlibe meta now, but suck in pve and mass fights.
Ofcouse, before you choose, get familiar with combat here and classes in this game, there are many great class guides and tier listes on you tube, also combat videos.
