[Black Desert Mobile Guide] CP is KING! 👑 Everything YOU need to know about COMBAT POWER (CP)
# 1

Updated: 05/02/2020

Preface: Every Little bit of CP Counts

Hi. I’m Sanders and this guide is intended for people who have hit a CP softwall and are having trouble progressing further into the main storyline. Following this guide should bring up your CP up quite easily and should teach you everything you need to know to progress forward in the game.

In terms of efficiency for the first 3 weeks into the game, I think CP is king. CP should always be the main focus until you reach a base CP 2800 because of the +300 CP bonus you get at that particular milestone.

How to know what your CP looks like

Why CP is so Important early on

More CP unlocks a lot of good content that in turn, brings more CP. Example:

1. Access to the Main story line and its major rewards.

a) Playing until chapter 3 of Southeast Calpheon nets you 1 Grand Black stone + 1 Gold condensed energy.

b) Completing Southwest Calpheon nets you 3 more grand black stones.

c) Playing the “Tales of Cron Castle” story quest nets you at least 2 grand black stones (most definitely more tho)

d) Playing until Chapter 5 of South Mediah (nets you 3 more grand black stones), and about CP 2900+ is required to clear up to this point.

2. Access to more resources such as Boss stamps, Ancient Ruins Tablets, Shakatu Gold Coins, Black Stones, etc

a) Higher level quests provide better rewards (good black stones vs fair black stones, more silver, more character exp)

b) Having high CP from gear means alts will have an easier time replaying the main story line

3. Access to knowledge that contribute to CP (can’t access Southwest Calpheon ecology knowledge if you haven’t progressed the storyline for example

4. Access to Boss Rushes

a) Some bosses directly give CP for levelling up their knowledge (refer to Boss knowledge section)

b) Clearing higher level boss rushes = more boss knowledge exp = CP gain from total boss knowledge

Sources of CP

There are currently 8 main sources of CP:

1. Gear

2. Collections

3. Knowledge

4. Black Spirit

5. Passive Skills

6. Skill Training Effect

7. Character Level

8. Pet Album

Gear

Focus on obtaining gear in this order: (1) Main Gear → (2) Accessories & Relics → (3) Outfits

Main Gear

Step 1. HIGHEST PRIORITY: obtain full Gold (yellow) equips either from Shakatu or from the market. If you can’t roll a yellow from Shakatu, aim to purchase the following yellow gear from the market:

   a) Liverto Main Weapons

   b) Rosar Sub Weapon

   c) Kite Shields (for Swordsmen and Valkyries)

   d) Grunil Armor

- If you can’t afford the above and desperately need that CP gain, any yellow equipment will do in the meantime. The reason for the emphasis on yellow gear is because yellow gears have a higher base CP and scale better when enhanced (it provides more CP per enhancement level).

Step 2. Once you've obtained your yellow gear, enhance the equipment in this order:

    1. Main Weapon → Sub Weapon
    2. Chest →  Helmet → Glove/Shoes

3. Enhance using gear resonance (refer to picture below) as a guide. Example:

   - Enhance Main Wep + Sub Wep to +20 → Chest to +20 → Helmet to +20 → Glove & Shoes to +20.

   - Enhance Main Wep + Sub Wep to +23 → Chest to +23 → Helmet to +23 → Glove & Shoes to +23.

   - Repeat so on and so forth.

How to access Gear Resonance values.

- Why does the type of yellow gear matter?

a) The following gears have two crystal slots instead of the usual one crystal slot:

   - LIverto Main Weapons

   - Rosar Sub Weapon

   - Kite Shields

   - Grunil Armor

b) Why are crystal slots important?

   - More crystals = more potential CP. 6 single-crystal gears vs 6 double-crystal gears could potentially mean a minimum 36 CP difference with purple crystals.

   - But generally the idea of crystal is to cap out your sub stats first, then only focus on adding AP/DP gems.

Accessories

1. Get a full set of +5 blues minimum. Accessory resonance bonus CP only begins when all of your accessories at +5 and provides a total of +10 bonus CP.  Then, aim to get the blues to +8.

2. From here onwards, I would either recommend going for either of the following sets of accessories:

Options Set 1

Options Set 2

Total Base CP from Accessories

2 x (+0) Orange accessories

3 x (+8) Blues

278 CP

2 x (+0) Orange accessories

3 x (+10) greens

266 CP

----

5 x (+0) Yellows

248 CP

- I personally do not advice aiming for purples. The cost to obtain purples and the cost to enhance them to +8 is not worth it for the CP you get. It is more practical in terms of cost to jump from +8 blues to all yellows, skipping purples entirely. You may refer to this resource by u/pitjepuke on reddit to see the CP values for the accessories at all levels.

- I’ve seen some people do +10 greens, I’m not too sure about how that compares to +8 blues. Maybe it’s good because of the +10% bonus on all branches damage? According to the enhancement restoration chart here, it is also a very very cheap way to enhance/fail your way to +10.

Relics

What the relic page looks like

Obtain relics from the Pearl Shop. For the most part, blue or purple relics you draw from the Pearl shop are much better than the NPC relics.

The currency you need to trade for relics in the Pearl Shop are called Relic Fragments. Relic Fragments can be obtained from any level of Ancient Ruins as well as a low chance to obtain them as a random drop from all mobs.

Reward list showing Relic Fragments as a potential reward upon completion of a run of Ancient Ruins

How to access: Pearl Shop > Add-ons > Relic > tap "Auto-Fill" at the bottom left. The auto fill prrompt will only appear if you currently possess relic fragments in your inventory.

- Aim to draw AP + DP relics. They provide overall the most CP compared to pure AP or pure DP relics.

- If you are a mainly DPS class such as an Archer or Witch, it is also advisable to draw additional pure AP relics which you can then swap out when fighting bosses.

- If for whatever reason you’re not drawing good relics, you can trade relics with contribution points at the relic NPC early on. Best NPC relic is from Likke Behr in Behr town (provides +17AP at the cost of 40 contribution points). Contribution points are the currency used to hire workers in your farm.

Mobs also drop Shakatu Exchange Certificates. These certificates can be used to exchange your relic for a chance to reroll a desired relic. If you fail to obtain the relic that you want, Shakatu will give you a DESIGNATED Shakatu Exchange Certificate for each exchange. Give three of these DESIGNATED Shakatu Exchange Certificates to Shakatu and he will guarantee you a relic that you want.

- As the rarity of the relic increases, the exchange costs will increase. Meaning to say Purple relics will cost more to reroll than Blue relics for example.

Outfits (Outfit & Weapon Outfit)

Main idea is to get two outfits and fuse them for seasonal outfits.

Normal outfits: 5 AP + 5 DP (10CP) / piece

Seasonal outfits: 16-25 AP + 16-25 DP (potential 32 - 50 CP) /piece

How to obtain outfits for fusion

Step 1: Go to your camp

Step 2: Open the Dye Workshop

Step 3: Select "Craft Outfits"

Step 4: Craft Either an "Armor Outfit Chest" or a "Weapon Outfit Chest"

It will take by default 5 days but the crafting time will be reduced if the worker crafting it has high Dexterity attributes. Process can also be quickened if player uses Life Plus (20% faster crafting speed)
F2P tip: Save your 1-day Life plus from events and only use it after collecting all the materials you need. Activate it before crafting the outfit and the time taken will be reduced significantly.

Step 5: Open the chest with the character that you want the outfit for. For example, if your main is a Ranger, open the chest with your Ranger character.

Disclaimer: From what I’ve read though is that the chance of successfully fusing an outfit is not very high, similar to successfully fusing pets. How true this is and to what extent, I have no idea. I don’t have the resources to test it out.

Collection

These are the collection tabs that you should aim to complete first. If everything is completed, it will result in a 31 CP gain.

Prelude To War

The Graves Full of Resentment

Tip: Lets pretend you’re loaded with Black Pearls and are missing some components, just click the item that you’re missing and click “Purchase Item” and you will be redirected to the market so you can purchase the item if it’s available. Works for trade shop/deco workshop items too.

Knowledge

General Knowledge

(Menu > Knowledge > Learn More)

Search for the knowledge that gives Attack or Defense. Completing these knowledge tasks will increase your CP and there is a total of 237 CP here just waiting to be obtained (as of South Mediah)

For Academics and Adventure knowledge categories, the following link provides all the answers you need: https://en.bdmbase.ru/blog/knowledge/

For Ecology, just tap the magnifying glass of the species that you are looking for, and tap the ‘footsteps’ logo. This will auto path you specifically to that monster. Do note that you might not get the knowledge from killing the monster right away. You might have to kill that particular monster a few times before you successfully acquire the knowledge you need.

Boss Knowledge

General Boss Knowledge (Boss Rush and World Boss)

Bosses that directly increase your CP:

  • Giath (+AP), Dastard Bheg (+DP), Titium (+DP), Kelcas (+DP), Uraka (+AP), Kzarka (World Boss), Kabuamilles (Ruins) etc

Total Boss Knowledge

You can think of Total Boss Knowledge as one huge exp bar that is filled by the exp you get from completing any boss rush/guild rush/world boss. That’s why it’s always best to push as high as possible when it comes to boss rushing because despite the item rewards being the same/similar, there is a difference in the EXP earned per boss rush.

Indirect CP gain through combined boss knowledge (Look at Attack and Defense gained at the top middle part):

Menu > knowledge > Boss tab > tap the magnifying glass

Black Spirit

Higher Black Spirit level = more CP.

1 Black Spirit level = 8 CP (4AP + 4 DP)

Just try to aim for the highest possible Dark Energy EXP.

   1. Top right lightstone

   2. Pets

   3. Combat Plus

These three things are the only sources that increases Dark Energy EXP at the moment.

Unpopular opinion: I feed yellow gears that are worth 3m or less to my Black Spirit. Most people would disagree but I think chasing silver is not the play. If I was loaded with silver, I would purchase all the cheap yellows and other weapons and feed them to my Black Spirit because that gives CP and that progresses you forward. It's just as good as buying AP/DP skills books in that sense. Each Black Spirit level increases your CP by about 10 -12 CP.

Some would argue that farming silver will eventually lead to being able to purchase BIS* gears but I think statistically speaking, the more boss rushes & ruins I complete and the more mobs that I kill, I will eventually get a drop I need or at least enough drops to sell to fund the BIS gears I eant. Keep in mind that the process is accelerated by the slight increase in CP I have.

*BIS = Best in Slot, for the uninitiated.

Passive Skills

Skills Menu > Scroll all the way down. |  "9 AP + 8 DP = 36 CP"

These are the passive skills, they can be levelled up by obtaining Passive skillbooks (the purple skill books). Passive skills carry over to all characters, so even if your main is an Ranger and you start a new Witch character, the Witch character will still benefit from these stats.

How to get these passive skillbooks?

   1. Just kill stuff. A lot of stuff.

   2. Some story quest rewards also give these books

   3. Node Manager. AP/DP Skill books pop up regularly when your node level is high enough.

Go to a high mob density area that you can kill very efficiently and you will rake up a lot of skill books in no time. You would want to aim for the areas with mobs whose names are in orange and have high mob density.

Source: https://en.bdmbase.ru/all-about-monsters/

Personally at 3331 CP, I am still having a really good time at Cron Castle Patrol Route. I average about 1800 mobs every 30 mins and a loooot of stuff drops that my pets are having trouble keeping up with. I think a good benchmark of efficient farming is 1 mob/sec or 1800 mobs/30 mins

Skill Training Effect (WIP)

Will be updated once I figure out how this thing works. All I know is that only AP and DP contribute to the total CP gained.

Skill Menu > Skill Training Effect (at the bottom right, above the "use all skillbooks" button)

Character Level

The higher the level of your character, the more Base Character CP the character will have. Do note that this is tied only to the particular character and will not carry over to other alts/toons unlike Base Family CP.

Unrelated to CP but, when your character reaches max level, a special “10% Drop Rate Increase” buff will apply to that character.

Pet Album

Menu > Pet Album

As of Jan 2020, there is currently a total of 11 CP to be obtained from the Pet Album.

Pet Tier 1: 3 CP

Pet Tier 2: 2 CP

Pet Tier 3: 3 CP

Pet Tier 4: 3 CP

Conclusion

Inventory> 🔎 Check CP (located at the top left)

Use your "Check CP" table as a checklist or guideline for what you can work on to increase your CP.

Comment in the section down below if there are any questions related to CP, what you think about the guide and what I can improve on.

Good luck with the grind!
